Since I got back from my last trip, I have been talking to Rick about the possibility of my joining him as a “client” via Nathan’s Wolftracker company, since this allows him to drive new road. I told him I would probably choose a time when there is a better than average chance of seeing wolves.
It is somewhat typical in August for bison to die in the rut and for wolf packs in the area to take advantage of such bounty. In mid August, the Junctions found not one but two bison carcasses in Little America, just far enough from the road to be safe for the wolves but close enough for roadside viewing.
I arrange an overnight stay at the Super 8 in Gardiner and start packing.
